8th Grade Boys B-Ball Schedule

The 8th grade Bulldogs Basketball team finished up their regular season play with a 9-2 league record and an overall record of 16-6, with their 2 league losses in games of a 2 point deficit and a 4 point deficit.  The Bulldogs also boast the league leading defense, as they led the league in the points alowed category!  St. Matthew's will be represented in the RPAL All-Star game by Zak Harvey and John Nichol, the All-Star game will take place at St. Catherine's on Sunday, March 1st at 7:00pm.

St. Joes Tournament

     Congratulations to the Bulldogs for their 2nd place finish in the St. Joes tournament!  They had to hustle back into the championship game by winning 3 in a row after an earlier loss in the tournament, before getting beat by St. Joes in the championship game.  This was a great showing for our 8th graders in an early season tournament.

          A very stubborn team defense along with an unselfish effort to move the ball around on offense helped lead our 8th grade Bulldogs to a 3-0 record on the season!  This was a great all-around team victory.

Divine Mercy Tournament

     Congratulations to the St. Matthew Bulldogs on their 1st place CHAMPIONSHIP finish in the Divine Mercy Tournament!!  They played great the entire tournament with tremendous unselfish team play as they defeated St. Leonards (38-17) and St. Thomas Aquinas (37-17) on their way to their championship win over St. John the Evangelist (39-35).  Great job guys!

      The 8th grade Bulldogs overcame a sluggish start and held a tough St.Joes Kenosha team to 4 second half points.  Leading the way with good energy was Ricky Lozano and Miguel Ledezma.  Including their tournament record, they are now 12-3 overall.

      The Bulldogs ended their regular season league play with a convincing 36-21 win in a game that was highlited by 10 straight points by Zach Harvey and baskets by Nathan Yost and Zach Zelten that sealed the victory.
