Welcome to Catholic Schools Week
Catholic Schools Week is an annual national celebration of the important role that Catholic elementary and secondary schools across the country play in providing a values-added education for America's young people. Catholic schools are proud of their educational network that emphasizes intellectual, spiritual, moral, physical, and social values in their students.
This year’s theme is: "Catholic Schools – Dividends for Life: Faith, Knowledge, Discipline, Morals.” Catholic Schools Week (CSW) celebrates education that goes beyond preparation for a secular life ─ it is education that prepares students for a Christian life. CSW also celebrates the high standards of excellence and the quality of the education available to all students in Catholic elementary and secondary schools across the U.S. Locally, the students of St. Matthew School will celebrate this week with a variety of activities that include special dress days, a community Read-a-thon that includes a visit from Archbishop Listecki, and school trip to Discovery World.
The purpose of Catholic Schools Week is to build community awareness of, and involvement in, Catholic schools throughout the country. During this week, St. Matthew School encourages parents to take full advantage of the benefits of our parish school by tak- ing a tour and considering enrolling your children here. Tours will take place after the 9:30 Mass on Sunday and after the 9:15 Mass on Friday.
St. Matthew Parish has long supported Catholic education by providing a parish school that serves both the spiritual and academic needs of its children. As a parishioner whose own children reaped the benefits of a St. Matthew School education, one who has taught at our parish school and now has the honor of serving as its principal, I express my deepest gratitude to the parish and en- courage all parishioners to witness, first hand, our Catholic school, St. Matthew School--a school that truly provides “Dividends for Life.”
